PCIA Show Draws Nearly 1,100 Attendees

A Who's Who List of Attendees Supported First Year Event

Thursday October 22, 2003, Alexandria, Va. --- Tower and infrastructure show executives from literally every part of the industry turned out for the first annual PCIA Wireless Infrastructure Conference & Expo, October 1-3 at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, FL. The inaugural PCIA event has already become the industry’s best business show and attracted a who’s who attendee list of executives at the CEO, COO, CTO, CFO and VP levels.

“We were confident going in that we would deliver strong attendee numbers, terrific carrier turnout and the highest caliber of business executives at the show. Our goal from the start was to attract leading executives to this conference and customize the agenda to meet their business needs. In talking with our exhibitors, they also were impressed with the quality of attendees as well,” Jay Kitchen, President and CEO, PCIA.

It wasn’t just tower company owners and operators that flocked to PCIA’s Wireless Infrastructure Conference and Expo. Exhibitors took advantage of the senior level attendees from carrier companies, investors, government and engineering/field operations.

PCIA’s 54 elite exhibitors and 31 sponsors specifically catered to an executive attendee base. “Our exhibitors and sponsors told us from the beginning they wanted to see the right decision-makers at the show. Our initial exhibitor reports indicate they gathered a lot of leads from the right people,” said Kitchen.

PCIA’s Wireless Infrastructure Conference & Expo eclipsed initial expectations in the following categories:

  • A Business Show for Towers and Infrastructure is Born – The PCIA Wireless Infrastructure Conference & Expo became the best business show for site professionals, with 77 percent of attendees coming from senior-level management attendees. The PCIA show drew the decision-makers many of who were moderators and panelists in PCIA’s 25 well-attended sessions.

  • Unmatched Carrier Presence – Exhibitors enjoyed face-to-face marketing time with a variety of carrier representatives ranging from site directors to regulatory officers to CTOs. World-class carriers from Sprint, T-Mobile, Nextel, Cingular, AT&T Wireless and Verizon made up 27 percent of PCIA’s attendee base.

  • High-Quality Attendance - The nearly 1,100 registered attendees was 30 percent above early attendance projections for the first year show.

  • Investors Everywhere – Four percent of attendees represented the much-coveted investment community, indicating renewed financial interest in the tower industry. The PCIA Wireless Infrastructure Investors’ Conference drew nearly 70 analysts from firms such as Lehman Brothers, Bear Sterns, Raymond James & Associates, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.

“The financial community attendance was exceptionally strong because PCIA provided a business show with the type of executives they want access to and sessions that speak directly to the industry’s business model. We see a lot of room for growth and we are busy cultivating relationships with Wall Street as a result,” said Julie Coons, Executive Vice President, PCIA.
