| Jay Kitchen Extends PCIA Contract For a Final Year (Alexandria, VA) – September 10, 2004 - PCIA - The Wireless Infrastructure Association announced today that Jay Kitchen, president and CEO, will lead the association for one more year before retiring. Kitchen has led PCIA since 1994 following the merger of PCIA and the National Association of Business and Educational Radio (NABER). He also served as vice president and later as president and CEO of NABER prior to the merger. “Jay has been leading national associations for 27 years,” said John Kelly, the president and CEO of Crown Castle International and Chairman of PCIA. “He was the voice of the PCS industry from its launch through the explosive growth years and provided a home for the tower and infrastructure industry from its start as the Site Owners and Managers Alliance to the present. We understand his need to do other things, but the wireless industry is going to miss his leadership.” The PCIA Board has asked Kitchen to remain for another year to lead a transition team that will ultimately name his successor, according to Kelly. “We will take advantage of Jay’s extensive government relations and association knowledge as we search for a successor,” said Kelly. Prior to his 27 years in trade associations, Kitchen held several posts at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). He started as a staff engineer in 1968 and ended his FCC service as an Engineering Assistant to Commissioner Charlotte Reid and then Commissioner Margita White. “After 36 years in the wireless industry, it is time for me to do other things,” said Kitchen. “I am honored that PCIA’s Board of Directors have asked me to lead the transition team to find my successor. I could not have enjoyed a more fulfilling career or worked for a more inspiring group than the members of PCIA,” said Kitchen. “Our work on issues such as private land mobile radio, paging, PCS and most recently wireless infrastructure has been exciting, rewarding and meaningful to me personally -- but I eagerly look forward to my next chapter,” said Kitchen.
